Microsoft really thinks it’s time that people stopped using Internet Explorer as their web browser of choice. The company officially discontinued IE in 2015, but people are still using the web browser and ignoring its successor. In a recent blog post titled “The perils of using Internet Explorer as your default browser,” Microsoft’s cybersecurity specialist Chris Jackson said everyone should stop using Internet Explorer.
Jackson writes, “We’re not supporting new web standards for it and, while many sites work fine, developers by and large just aren’t testing for Internet Explorer these days. They’re testing on modern browsers.” He adds, “As new apps are coming out with greater frequency, what we want to help you do is avoid having to miss out on a progressively larger portion of the web!”
Microsoft Edge was introduced as IE’s successor and made its debut on Windows 10.
