28 years ago, ABC premiered Twin Peaks, a show that begged the question, Who killed Laura Palmer? Looking back on it's impact, here are 3 ways it changed TV forever:
1. Twin Peaks changed serialized television - Shows with cliffhangers usually wrapped them up in an episode or two. A plot did not span the course of a season.
3. After Twin Peaks, it became okay for TV to be weird - The dreams in The Sopranos and the puzzles in Lost wouldn't have been possible without Twin Peaks.
6. Twin Peaks was the first series to generate so many fan theories - Even though social media didn't exist in 1990, this didn't stop families and coworkers from theorizing what could happen next.
