-With Clueless making its return to people's mind with the new Rakutan commercial, it's time to revisit the Clueless that many people have forgotten about. The television adaption that ran from 1996-1999.
-After the success of the film it was decided that it would make for a great comedy series and potentially be the new Beverly Hills 90210 but less dramatic.
-ABC aired the series during its first season with majority of the cast returning to reprise their roles or slightly altered roles. Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Brittany Murphy, and Dan Hedaya chose not to reprise their characters though Paul/Brittany would guest star in 1 episode of the series as new characters.
-Rachel Blanchard took over as Cher Horowitz,
-David Lascher took over the role of Josh, Cher's step brother. Josh/Cher's romantic will they/wont they was ignored for the show.
-Michael Lerner (season 1) and Doug Sheehan (seasons 2–3) took over as Mel Horowitz. In show it seemed as if Mel got in shape and got his health together thus making him look like a younger man!
-Brittany Murphy's character, Tai, was largely absent from the series despite being part of cast photos. She was written out after 3 episodes into the series (though she would "appear" throughout the first season due to the 3 episodes being aired largely out of order) and thus Amber taking on a much larger role in Chers friend group.
-Premiering on ABC, Clueless aired as part of the networks TGIF lineup and while it brought in an average of 8mill viewers per episode the first season was deemed a ratings failure and cancelled after its first season.
-ABC didnt count on reruns of the show finding an audience which found the show soaring to an average of 13 million viewers per episode but before they could reverse their decision, UPN had already scooped up the rights for the show.
-With the network move, the show saw a slight readjustment with all the teachers from the film/S1 written out and Josh also dropped from the series.
-The show would run for a total of 62 episodes and was canceled again after Season 3 as the show failed to maintain its viewers from ABC and just as the characters graduated from High School.
