ONTD Original: 11 Early 2000s Pop Rock Tracks For Your Angsty Pubescent Soul

Now that we have that done and over with, let's go back to the topic-at-hand. Today, my fellow freaks and geeks, we're going to be remininscing about some of my our favourite tunes by some of my our favourite female pop rock singers, sometimes singer-songwriters, of the early oughts

These songs were magical in every way. The cadence used by every singer was able to blur the lines of what constituted a vowel, how that vowel sounded, and how long it should last. These songs made you go to the mall to buy every graphic t imagineable at every store offering 2-for-1 deals. These songs made you understand that you weren't alone, but at the same time, those problems you dealt with, they were yours alone

"Don't Let Me Get Me" — P!nk (2001)
L.A. told her she'd be a pop star, all she'd have to do is change everything she was. So P!nk decided to be Black for a hot minute before realizing she wasn't Black, but at the same time couldn't be compared to damn Britney Spears. She's just so pretty and white, but that ain't P!nk



"Breathe" — Michelle Branch (2003)
IF I JUST BREATHE THEN FILL THE SPACE IN BETWEEN I KNOW EVERYTHANG WILL BE ALRIGHT BREEATHE dSDASDF IF I JUST BREATHEEEE!!!! AIIIIIIYAI AND AIIIIIYAI GIVE U JUST A LIL TIMe... this track and "Everywhere" and "All You Wanted," and basically any track from Michelle Branch's album Hotel Paper makes me absolutely lose it, and me and my air guitar don't care what you think



"So Yesterday" — Hilary Duff (2003)
If it's over let it go, and... I'm still keeping that shit you gave me. 17 years, two babies, one failed Lizzie McGuire reboot later and this track and the entire Metamorphosis album still slaps hard



"What I Like About You" — Lillix (2003)
Lillix's cover of this song was >>>> and was part of the OST to the ultimate angsty 2000s teen comedy Freaky Friday. Word on the street, Lindsay Lohan's lipsyncing in this song is what drove Aaron Carter away from Hilary's arms (source: me)



"Take Me Away" — Pink Slip (2003)
Okay, Pink Slip is not a real band, but it really should've been. Freaky Friday should've released an OST that featured only music from the band. Would've broken records, I swear



"La La" — Ashlee Simpson (2004)
In 2004, Ashlee's sister Jessica was singing about "loving angels instead." Ashlee, on the other hand, made the ultimate feminist decision of dyeing her hair black and releasing a single dedicated to masturbation. The power, the influence. Then SNL happened. Now she's Diana Ross's daughter-in-law, so who's laughing now? Ashlee is
